Ramatu Aliyu, the minister of state for the federal capital territory (FCT), has tested negative of COVID-19 – Aliyu had on Tuesday, March 24, taken the test and gone into self-isolation after coming in contact with a patient of coronavirus.

The minister, however, urged Nigerians not to panic and take all precautions very seriously as the Minister’s test result returned for coronavirus.

The minister said the decision to self-isolate “is because I do not want to compromise the lives of my dear residents, staff & colleagues.”

 “I am glad to inform all my family, friends, associates and colleagues, including the good people of FCT, that I have tested NEGATIVE to #COVID19. I thank Almighty Allah for good health and his infinite grace at these trying times,” Aliyu wrote.

“As a nation, we shall come out of this stronger&better STAY SAFE. STAY Strong”, she added via her twitter handle.

 Nigeria has recorded 51 coronavirus cases across nine states. According to Worldometer, there are 491,280 confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide, 22,166 deaths and 118,060 recoveries.

Meanwhile,  in a move to stop the spread of the deadly virus that has forced many Nigerian states into partial lockdown, the presidency began intensive fumigation of the State House starting with the office of President Muhammadu Buhari.
